Immediately below is a Dragonfly Semi-precious and precious rock lamp
Began in 1974 finished 2006
Six Panels
Wings of Each Dragonfly are cut slices, and polished; from 130 million year old mineralized Dinosaur bone from North Central Utah.  These plant eating creatures were so big that their individual cells are easily recognized.

Just above bodies of the dragonflies consist of Chrysicolla, the deep green stones, from India.

Light yellow stones are petrified wood from just outside Denver, Colorado.
John and Marge Ludlow of Denver collected the wood, which is 40 million years old.

The white circular stones are geothermal spring quartz from Wyoming.

Yellow, purple and golden amethystine Brazilian quartz is a type called Cocoxinite (rutilated amethyst).  Rutile chemical composition: TiO2 titanium.  These are at the top.  They were cut, and polished from one single large crystal.

Included near the head of the dragonfly are polished Australian opals.

Eyes are cabochon jade from North Central Wyoming.  Immediately surrounding the eyes are fire agate (faceted) from Mexico.

Separating each dragonfly are semi circles of Brazilian amethyst, the light purple pieces.

Dark purple median just above the wings is purple jade from China.  These run all the way around the lamp.

Just below the wings are series of moss agate from North Dakota.

Bordering the bottom is more jade from Wyoming.

All of the stones were cut, polished, and assembled by one person, with the exception of the jade eyes, which were purchased.

Assembly is similar to the Tiffany method of copper foil and 60/40 leading.

The lamp base was purchased in Denver, Colorado – 1970.

The wings were slabbed and shaped from one single superbly agatized rock from Marge Ludlow's personal wood collection.

Just above bodies of the dragonflies consist of adventurine, the green stones, from India.

Eyes are various pairs of faceted gems purchased in Denver, Colorado.
