The dignity of man rests above all on the fact that he is called to communion with God. This invitation to converse with God is addressed to man as soon as he comes into being. For if man exists it is because God has created him through love, and through love continues to hold him in existence.
He cannot live fully according to truth unless he freely acknowledges that love and entrusts himself to his Creator. -- Gaudium et spes

“The first thing that a person finds in life and the last to which he holds out his hand,
and the most precious that he possesses, even if he does not realize it, is family life.”
Blessed Fr Adolph Kolping - Kolping Society, emphasizes sanctification of family life -- dignity of labor.

.
After seven years, they moved from Albany, Minnesota, to the Leonard, North Dakota area.
They took up a homestead in the SE1/4 of Sec 21 (137n-53w) in Cass County
The house that Carl and his family built still partially stands today The area was a vast, treeless prairie.
The family struggled through many severe hardships and later prospered.
They bought more acres and finally purchased land on the edge of Leonard, North Dakota.
A son, Richard, died at age 20. He was hit in the side by a pitched ball and developed typhoid fever.

Carl Frederick Bartholomay died on November 24, 1920 and was buried on the 26th of November

Our Father, Hail Mary, Eternal rest, etc.
0 Lord God omnipotent, I beseech Thee by the Precious Blood which Thy divine Son Jesus shed in His cruel scourging, deliver the souls in purgatory, and among them all, especially that soul which is nearest to its entrance into Thy glory, that it may soon begin to praise Thee and bless Thee for ever.  Amen.
